I wanted to take a picture of my Kindle, but I left it at home this morning. So instead here's picture of the The Marriage Plot on the Kindle Cloud Reader.
Some of the early reader reviews I've read haven't been great. I guess people were expecting a Middlesex Part II, but I'm still excited to dive into it.
There was this article in New York Magazine the other day called "Just Kids" that tried to lump Jeffrey Eugenides, Jonathan Franzen, David Foster Wallace and Rick Moody (to a lesser extent) together into this loose cadre of literary super-friends. There has been some speculation that one of Franzen's characters in Freedom is based on Wallace and now new speculation that one of Eugenides characters in The Marriage Plot is based on Wallace as well. I haven't read Freedom yet so I can't really comment on that, but I'll be on the watch for it in The Marriage Plot.
I'm still reading Boxer, Beetle by Ned Beauman - so I think I'll probably make The Marriage Plot my "on the go" book (meaning that it gets read in waiting rooms, lines, bathrooms, etc.) and Boxer, Beetle will be my "before bed" book.
